Japfest 2024

Mondello Park was the place to be this weekend, Sunday saw more than 15,000 spectators show up for one of the biggest automotive events of the calendar. Not only was the Irish Drift Championships round one happening, one of the biggest events of the year came early this time around.

Japfest 2024! Scheduled a little earlier this year, Ireland’s largest gathering of Japanese and JDM-themed cars saw approximately 400 cars polished up and on display. Groups such as JDM Classics, The GTI-R Owners Club and the Juicebox team lined up to show the products of their blood, sweat and tears. The day stayed dry and the energy high as those attending enjoyed the event, it was even sunny enough to put you in the mood for a cheeky 99.

As the drivers of IDC took a break, the crowds got a chance to have a look at the drift cars competing that day, James Deane brought his 4 rotor FD RX-7, he also brought the E92 Eurofighter driven by none other than David Egan from Drift Games and a surprise addition of Josiah Fallaise who brought his C6 Corvette.

The show & shine saw some real classics come away in the top prize 10 winners of the day. The GTI-R Owners won best club stand and the car of the show prize was taken home by Neil Sheehan for his AE86. This car was a representation of passion and teamwork from the entire Juicebox crew and the fleet they brought to display.

A true sense of community could be found within Mondello Park that Sunday, Japfest was an example of the passion and petrol that bonds all car enthusiasts. We’re already excited for 2025.

Until next year!
