IDC 2024 - Round 3

We are back at it again with the Irish Drift Championships. This weekend we made a return to Mondello Park for round 3! This marked the halfway point of the competition, plenty of doors have been rubbed and scores are firmly on the board. The tension is rising and the hunger could be felt this weekend from every driver there.

Saturday in Mondello saw adverse weather conditions flip the competition on its head, as the slippery conditions of the track put a lot of the higher power cars at a disadvantage. Despite the unrelenting rain, the Pro2, Pro2 Junior and Pro 2 Rookies left their hearts on the track and saw some fantastic additions for the Pro championship day.

Jacob Kryszczak, Dylan Wilson, Jack Caldwell and Colin O Sullivan were the final four of the Pro 2, the wet conditions seemed to suit some of the drivers better and shook up the competition nicely. Sunday was a little more forgiving and the paddock was alive with the sound of mechanical issues and prayers to the engine god’s that the rain would hold off for the day.

Alan Hynes took revenge for Watergrasshill claiming first place in round 3 that day. Jacob Krzyzczak continued his hunt for the Pro2 and Pro championship to be the one to take both in the same year for the first time in history by taking second place. The reigning Pro champion Chris Brady made an appearance and tore up the track proving why he is the current king of the track. Unfortunately for Darragh Spencer, the mechanical gremlins got him and he had to bow out of the 3rd and 4th final.

A little rest and recalibration and for the cars and drivers will see us back for round 4 in Bishopscourt! Things are really heating up!
