Driver Spotlight - Ben Rogers

Hardworking, determined and a very genuine lad. Ben Rogers has a lot of determination and strong work ethic. This young man has worked every day and earned every car he’s ever driven from a hard day's graft. Milking cows and washing cars in Rogers Auto repair, Ben has put blood, sweat and tears into his driving career. Having competed in both the British Drift Championships and the Irish Drift Championships, Ben knows the competition is much tougher this season.

Name Ben Rogers

Discipline Drifting

Level of discipline Pro2

How old were you when you were first introduced to the car community?

I was around 14 or so when I first started competing. I've competed in the British Drift Championships for 2 seasons and now I compete in the Irish Drift Championships. This is my third season competing in the Irish Drift Championships now, the IDC is definitely harder competition with a better level of driving. I’d love to go further someday, maybe Europe down the line.

Tell me about your favourite track and why it’s your favourite.

For me my favourite track has to be Mondello Park, over the hill is the best part of the run.

What is your passion in life?

It’s always been cars, ever since I was walking it’s always been what I enjoyed. I started out with a Lexus IS 200, then got the S14. I’ve built the S14 to what it is now. My dream road car would probably be a Nissan Skyline R34 GTR.

Tell me your best moment so far on the track

This season so far I took the win in round 2 in Watergrasshill, against the really bad conditions.  The last weekend in Bishopscourt I had a great battle against Danny Divine. It really was something. I was top 16 and got to drive against Duane McKeever as well, I may have lost that battle but I won getting to battle against him.

Who are your biggest supporters?

My biggest supporters are my family. I wouldn’t be doing this without them.

Do you have any unusual talents?

I can bend my pinky finger all the way back until it reaches my hand.
